A long time ago there was a little girl who grew up in Chicago in the 1960’s before Personal Computers, iPhones, and iPads. Everything had to be handwritten or typewritten and that little girl was me. I begged my family for a tape recorder for Christmas when I was in the fifth grade because I wanted to record stories from my grandparents, my mom and dad. I knew that someday they were going to die, and I wanted to remember their stories. Back then, a tape recorder was a big ticket item, and technology was mostly in the hands of adults who could handle such equipment. Mom and Dad didn’t think I could take care of this responsibility, but my Mom’s mother did. She believed in me. Her voice in these family matters swayed mom and dad, so I did get the tape recorder for Christmas.
Grandma passed away the following fall. Long have her stories faded from the tape on that tape recorder but my memories of her love live on in my heart. And this is one of the reasons behind why I created Write Heart Memories®. Everyone has one amazing story that needs to be told and remembered. One of the easiest ways to do that is by turning your stories into books.
I became an Occupational Therapist and worked in the schools and home health. I loved hearing the stories from children and from older adults who had lived so much of life. I wrote a novel called CONVERSATIONS when I was in my twenties. It was my personal memoir and took two years to write. By the time my agent had a publisher for me, I was also a Mother. Mothering became my top priority so I didn’t pursue that book further. I wrote, became a Feldenkrais Practitioner, put out a therapeutic toy catalog – Play With Success and a book about that too. Trauma and transitions happen to everyone as it did with me. My husband and I divorced. I gave up the toy catalog and became a pharmaceutical representative in Corporate America for Women’s Health and worked in my off time as a therapist to private clients.
I believe that it is possible to rewrite your story. I’ve done it myself, so I know it can be done. I also think you are worthy enough to know and love your story right now. Take a few deep breaths, slow down and remember the stories that have given you inspiration, motivation, and momentum.
I’m excited to be here with you right now.
